Hope and Progress

February 7, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

In celebration of Black History Month and Black authorship, the University of Texas Permian Basin Department of Literature and Languages presents the annual African American Read-In event on Tuesday, February 7th, 11am – 3pm.

This event is drop-in and features Black authors and their work. Local leaders and UTPB community members will take turns reading from their favorite works. There will also be open mic sessions. 

Special Performance by Iris Fordjour-Hankins at 11:30

Keynote Speaker: Sue Roseberry (Website: https://www.sueroseberry.com/) 12:15 – 1:30

Lunch: 12 – 1pm

There will be snacks available throughout the event.

Location: Mesa Building Multipurpose Room

Community Partners will be there to share information and opportunities with their organizations. (PBS, Odessa American, Permian Basin Literacy Coalition)
